The Rock Pool is an independent collective of investigators, technologists,
journalists, artists and civil society actors from Europe and Africa. We work together to cover
environmental and human rights issues: from harmful mining practices in the Democratic Republic of Congo
to migration stories in Europe. The Rock Pool looks for gaps where public-interest stories have not been
covered or are underreported. Our aim is to use our skills to expand the conversation around the stories
we cover whilst showing how environmental and human rights abuses are underpinned by political and
economic policy.
We are a small experienced collective. We push to find new exciting and engaging
forms for our reporting and come together in bespoke project teams: relative to the story, the medium,
the range of skills and knowledge needed, and the regions affected.
